Why Do We Procrastinate?, The most smoothest calender application at time and How to make better big decisions. this newsletter talks it all
The Vision: Why Do We Procrastinate?
We often take breaks between our work sessions but when that break becomes too much it affects the work then it’s called Procrastination.
Here are some possible reasons why you are doing that:_
The Top 10 Segment
Here are the 10 most powerful ideas for life:-
Time Billionaires - 1 million seconds = 11 days 1 billion seconds = 31 years We all admire people like Warren Buffet. But he's 91 years old. No matter how much money you have, you can't buy another billion seconds. When we are young we have got time and a lot of it so cherish it.
Work Like a Lion - Most people are not wired to work 9-5. It is very limiting. We work more hours and get less done. If your goal is to do inspired, creative work, you have to work like a lion. Wait. SPRINT. Eat. Rest. Repeat.
Compounding - 1% better every day for a year = 37,778% gain 1% worse every day for a year = 97% loss Small actions over time bring big changes.
The Persuasion Paradox - The most persuasive people don’t argue—they observe, listen, and ask questions.
The Feynman Technique - Four steps to learn anything new: (1) Identify a topic (2) Try to explain it to a child (3) Study to fill in gaps (4) Organize, convey, and review
The Wisdom Paradox - The more you learn, the more you realize how much you don't know. This should be empowering, not frightening.
Work and luck - Work stays luck fades, Luck is a very random event of life, if you wait for luck to happen you'll probably do nothing but work is something you got control of and that is powerful
The Present - The past is something you have no control of and so does the future - the only thing that you have control over is your present because you 10 years from now should not be regretting that I could have chosen that path so would have been this big guy excusing it with luck.
Irreplaceable - If there is a skill that can be learned by everyone and you’ve learned it aswell, you can be easily replaced by someone who does it better than you and he/she can be replaced by someone who’s better than them and so on, you need something that Irreplaceable like your personality and experiences that makes you different from others. No one can replace warren buffet or bill gates because they are different from a normal software engineer or an investor
Discipline - Discipline is about choosing what you want to want now and what you want the most
Powerful Products
I have seen a lot of calendars out there but this is my all-time favorite not just only because of the many amazing features it provides but also the design, and the user experience the whole calendar has.
It’s called Cron, which has recently also been acquired by Notion.
Cron is single-handedly one of those applications that my day cannot start with.
It’s literally the smoothest calendar I have got hands-on, The User interface is top-notch and it ranks in the Top 3 of my Best products of all time, It’s always very easy to navigate the application, and the shortcuts on it work as a blessing to me.
Cron is one of those applications that once you start using you’re not going back.
Great Idea: How to make better big decisions.
Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman has a great approach to this
When you’re on the verge of making a decision, not just any decision but a big decision, you call a meeting of people whose opinions you respect
Split them into two groups.
Have one group imagine that the effort was a big disaster.
Have the other pretend it was a roaring success.
Ask each member to work independently and generate reasons, or better yet, write a story, about why the success or failure occurred.
Instruct them to be as detailed as possible.
Finally, use the reasons from both groups to strengthen your plan.
This helps you to
Overcome the blind spots
Convert short-term thinking to long-term thinking
Also lets you be a little bit pessimistic about the decision for good
